24 hour drinking (part 1)

Well, a nice idea, but you can't trust anyone in the UK today to get anywhere near the respectable cafe culture that our friends on the continent have. Why?

Children in the UK are brought up in a culture created by their parents and successive governments where booze is bad and forbidden, and there is no exposure to it until too late. Result: children always want to break the rules, so booze is seen as something cool to try to get hold of, thus it is consumed in a completely unregulated environment on street corners, leading onto binge drinking, particularly running up to the artificially imposed 11pm Last Orders. It should be introduced to children in small quantities from an earlier age so that they can be taught to respect it and it is no longer a mystical taboo.

This is magnified by the cancer of selfishness that is now prevalent in this country owing to 18 years of Conservative government mismanagement under Thatcher and her cronies that have eroded any sense of responsibility and civic awareness that there might have been and instead engendered people to not give a shit and treat the civic environment as a public dustbin.

Nanny State

The Government. Wankers, irrespective of politics. What a waste of time. Stupid rules. Freedom of speech my arse. I will welcome the day of the revolution. What is the point in taking a blind bit of notice of the shite that they spout? Still, better than having the Tories in charge. The UK governments over the last 15 years have probably been one of the most forceful arguments for all out anarchy in this country.

I really must formulate some more concrete rants on these sorts of subject.

Political Choice in the UK

There is an advert airing in this country currently encouraging people to vote at 'aboutmyvote.co.uk'. It depicts two cartoon characters, one of whom says that he cannot be arsed with politics, the other then saying 'ah ah you don't do politics, remember?' when the first moans about anything eg beer price, late trains.

What a sack of arse. People don't do politics because it is run by a selection of very bland people all spouting the same shite - there's no point in voting because nothing will get done, nothing will change. All empty promises no bloody action. Remember the buzz of excitement in 1997 when Blair took over? What a waste of time - it's just the same!
